Bring the Banner to Your Community!

As a military veteran Eddie Feigner’s commitment to our troops became a central focal point for the King & His Court who have entertained more American Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard personnel than even the legendary Bob Hope. Appropriately enough on July 4th of 2007 at a King & His Court benefit game in the Detroit area the Come Home Safe banner campaign was launched. The original 5’ by 7’ banner was made available to fans to sign and throughout its travels included messages from athletes and Hollywood celebrities.

The first banner to be signed, front and back, was sealed and sent from ceremonies at Shea Stadium in New York and included messages from Hollywood celebrities and present and former professional athletes. It was sent to Iraq with the 250,000th Operation Gratitude Care Package and is now hanging in the Al Faz Palace, former residence of Saddam Hussein, in Baghdad.

During tour hiatus periods, two additional banners traveled to softball venues in Southern California and most notably to the US Marine Corps Annual Boot Camp Day in San Diego. Both banners were presented during Operation Gratitude’s 300,000th care package ceremonies on December 15, 2007 and were shipped overseas where they were presented to the troops serving in Iraq.

Both banners are now with our troops serving in Iraq. One of the banners went to the unit of S SGT Elizabeth Cowie, a co-founder of Operation Gratitude on active duty. A subsequent forth banner was sent with Operation Gratitude’s 400,000 package in December, 2008.

Along with the banners, a “Salute to the Troops” segment preceded each game including honor guards, recognitions and presentations to veterans who became honorary KHC Team co-captains with patriotic music as part of each games opening ceremonies.

Throughout the banner signing drives a strong and clear message rang loud and clear, that Americans stood proud in support of our troops as countless veterans expressed their eagerness to sign in support of their combat brethren. TV star, Tony Danza, signed with the words of advice, “Keep your head down”. School children wrote terse loving messages. One said, “We trust that you will come home safely.” The words, “love”, “thanks”, “appreciate” and “prayers” were sprinkled everywhere.

The support of the initial Come Home Safe banners was overwhelming and helped to show the King & His Court organization how much American’s truly cared for our troops and their families. In an effort to help show our military and their families that America stands proud of their dedication to protecting our country, the Come Home Safe banner campaign will become an expanded focal point for the 2010 events and activities.

The 2010 Come Home Safe Banner Drive
Through the support and involvement of various organizations the Come Home Safe banner drive is now being expanded to include a larger number of communities throughout the United States.

With the start of the 2010 schedule of KHC events and activities the Come Home Safe banner drive will embark on the creation of a much longer banner, which will be made up of smaller banners similar to the original 5’ X 7’ banners started 3 years ago.

Scheduled to start in April and run through September of 2010 we will launch a banner support drive in cities and communities throughout the U.S.. Plans are in place to also provide the opportunity for individuals who cannot attend a KHC event to submit their dedications via a web based application to be located online.

Each community banner is customized to the local market, displaying their community name on the front and back to encourage a larger number of local dedications and words of support for our troops serving our country.

The Come Home Safe banner drive will continue throughout the summer with each community banner being joined end to end with banners from other communities from around the country to form a continuous chain of proud Americans who have joined hand-in-hand forming a never ending chain of American support and appreciation to our troops.

At the end of the summer events the King & His Court organization will seek to carry the banners overseas where they will become the outfield fence for benefit softball games with the troops featuring the world renowned King & His Court softball team. The ball fields of military outposts and military bases will be draped with the Come Home Safe banners from around the country, linked banner-to-banner connecting hand-to-hand showing our troops that America stands proud in support of their dedication to protecting our great nation.

Showing our support…….
One community, one person at a time!
